Circa 1835. Dimensions, 88"h x 20" w x 9 "d.

Willard Federal tall case clock, arched and painted wooden dial signed "Alex T. Willard Ashby (Alexander Willard, working Ashby, Massachusetts, early 19th century), floral and gilt spandrels, inlaid waisted case with arched, turned and pierced fretwork and three finials, 86-3/4 x 21-1/4 x 11 in. Works, weights and pendulum associated and out of period, saddle board replaced, breaks and repairs with later braces to arched door, breaks and repairs to feet with one front foot facing missing, other breaks and repairs to feet, minor breaks to fretwork, crackle and some paint losses to dial especially Roman numerals. Inside door of clock with typed note "This clock was made by Alex T. Willard of Ashby, Mass. for John Buttrick of Peppurlo…"; Estate of the Late William and Priscilla Carlebach, Mystic, Connecticut and Bedford, New York.

Eight-day movement signed by Willard and has a sun/moon dial. Imperfections. 80''h. Purportedly descended in the Willard family through a New Hampshire relative. Refinished repairs. Includes weights key pendulum and a copy of The American Clock. The right side of the pierced crest has damage and loss we do have most of the crest that broke off there are age cracks the hood door has replaced escutcheon and the hood door has been reglazed missing finials the dial paint is crazed with wear dirt and a few flakes dial measures 17'' high x 12'' wide and is initialed TM on the back. The back plate of the movement measures 6 3/8'' high x 4 7/16'' wide. AR 8/27/12

Scottish, 19th century, mahogany with satinwood banding and stringing. The scroll pediment centers a brass ball finial surmounted by an eagle, the glazed door conforming to the painted, arched metal dial decorated with flowers and birds centering "COOPER - HAMILTON"; the two-train movement with two subsidiary hands for seconds and day of the month. The long case with standard access panel door flanked by reeded quarter columns, all on ogee bracket feet.
